Terracotta Warriors on BBC

04 March 2010

Bo and five friends are transported to a spirit world through our warriors on the BBC.
Five of our life-size Terracotta Warriors have developed a slight swagger after starring in the first ever episode of CBBC Children’s drama ‘Spirit Warriors’ earlier this year.

After coming through a rigorous audition process, they were selected to appear in a pivotal scene in which they form a gateway through which Bo, the shows main character, her sister and three friends are transported to a parallel ‘spirit world’.

The five, who acquire supernatural powers, are then set on a mission to save the real world by recovering 12 legendary ‘spirit pieces’. The series, which has a strong oriental theme, has been well received by both children and critics.

This is no surprise given the expertise behind it. The fantasy drama was created by up and coming British-born Chinese writer Jo Ho and produced by Nick Pitt, of Silent Witness and Robin Hood fame. The team also included BAFTA award winning executive producer Jon East and leading Production Designer Catrin Meredydd.

Obviously, the warriors also played a vital part in the show’s success and are now hoping to land further acting jobs. Several of their friends, however, are still available for sale at Round Wood!

In addition to these 1.88m infantryman, our range also includes an officer, a kneeling counterpart and a 1m half-size model. We also offer a selection of miniature/desktop Terracotta Warrior presentation sets. All have been traditionally crafted by hand to a high specification.

Unique Garden Statues at Round Wood

Cast Iron Giant Bull at the Heathfield Show, May 2008.
Over the past few months our range of garden statues has continued to evolve. By constantly sourcing and developing models cast in a wide variety of mediums, we hope to offer a garden statue to accommodate every taste.

A large number of our statues are traditionally cast in iron, including the hallmark Classic Stag which, along with its accompanying Deer/Doe, continue to be in demand.

Other standout animal statues include a Half-size Horse, a Frolicking Stag and a Giant Bull. In addition to being available in the standard natural rust finish, the Bull Statue is also available in Antique White and Red Oxide, (please contact us for more details).

The majority of our classic busts, nudes and portraits are also cast in iron. Our Bust of a Girl and Small Roman Lady prove particularly popular, with both being available in either natural rush or Antique White.

The finish of all of our cast iron statues will develop over time. This can include mossing and general patination. Whilst they will also rust up nicely, they will never erode as the rust forms a protective seal.

A cast iron garden statue can be primed and painted, with a metal based rust proof paint if really required, but most prefer an aged appearance.

Over the last few months, we have also been busy adding more contemporary garden statues to our selection. Standing amongst them are Terracotta Warriors and Easter Island Heads, both faithful reproductions of ancient wonders.

These garden statues are cast in concrete, but also feature an interwoven fibreglass mesh for added stability and frost proofing. This innovative composite allows for the statues to
