In the early 1960’s, four infantry units of the French Foreign Legion were based in the Sahara. During their tours of duty, most soldiers baked under the desert sun with just their kepis for protection. The lucky ones occasionally got to ride in wagons.
We would like to say that these wheels came from those very wagons. Unfortunately we can’t. What we can say is that these wagon wheels are hand-crafted from oak, have an iron lining and might look very attractive in your garden.
Whilst our wagon wheels are in appropriate order for use as a garden ornament, they are clearly not uniform in finish given the effects of age and practical use.
Our wagon wheels vary in size, but they are on average 75cm in diameter. Where possible, we will attempt to match any specific requirement for size.
Whilst we cannot say for certain what these wheels were used for, we do know they are genuine. They are NOT recreations/imitations.
